Pan-Toasted Chickpea Snack

Healthy snack alert! When you have the munchies, try this pan-toasted chickpea snack. High in protein and fiber, this snack is both healthy and delicious.

And since cans of chickpeas can easily be purchased for under a dollar, this may be the cheapest and healthiest snack ever.

Using a non-stick pan and just a teaspoon of oil ensures the chickpeas will get golden brown without burning.


Sprinkle with salt and your favorite spice.

Pan-Toasted Chickpea Snack


  • 1 can chick peas
  • 1 teaspoon vegetable oil
  • Salt
  • Spice of choice: paprika, cayenne pepper, or Old Bay seasoning


  1. Drain and rinse 1 can of chick peas. Roughly dry with a paper towel.
  2. Add the chickpeas to a non-stick skillet. Add oil. Cook on medium heat for about 14 minutes until golden brown, stirring every couple minutes.
  3. Remove from heat, and sprinkle with salt and the spice of your choice. Let cool, and start snacking!
